The Color Pink

Written By Daishia O'Loughlin

Pink
Oh, Pink
Such a pretty color
Gorgeous
as it can be
Pink
some love
others just don't
it's too beautiful
a color to see
pink reminds me
of Barbie and fashion
now what
is so wrong
with that?
Too nice
too happy
too feminine
to sweet
but still beautiful
as a matter of fact
Pink
is the sky
when the sun sets
pink
is the color
of flowers
and pirouettes
ballerinas
barbie dolls
dresses
princesses
pink
is a color
so happy
and free
yes, pink
is a color
that captivates me

Cereal

by Daishia O'Loughlin

I never thought
I'd see the day
that I'd live off of cereal
but I have to say
when I have no access
to any other food
it's satisfying
and brightens my mood

Honey Nut cheerios
are actually quite healthy
not a lot of calories
or sugar like people tell me
As I munch on these cheerios
I'm satisfied with life
and the hunger disappears
so now the end of my strife

The picture of the happy bumble bee
sub-consciously fills my mind with glee
I'm distracted as I'm no longer hungry
This is actually quite sad...but oh well...poor me

Cereal is a food
for those who are desperately in need
of relief from the pain
of being hungry
Cereal is a food
that children like me
will eat gladly
hungry or not
It's simply fate, or destiny

ENC 1102

ENC 1102
The last english class
before I am through
So much to learn
so much to do
Was there more to learn?
Yes, it was true

Essays, Essays,
and projects, galore
I thought I'd learned it all
but here I learn more
and I wonder
Will my brain fall to the floor?
Writing is a priviledge
yet can be such a chore

I believed I knew how to argue
and how to persuade
But hey, We all learn things new
Possibly everyday
We may not be children
but we are not quite adults
and this is a necessity
if we kids want results

So let's read
let's write
make our young minds bright
At the end of this tunnel
there is a light
The light of "We're done!"
"We're finished! We're free!"
The light of "No more papers!
"Hi, summer! Yay me!"
This engaging class
that has proven a chore
hath drilled in us knowledge
of persuasion galore!

The Woods

by Daishia O'Loughlin

Sitting here
alone
it's pleasant
and tranquil
not much noise
not many people
It's so quiet
almost still

I lay here
staring at the sky
so beautiful
so young
but old
and radiant
full of secrets
and meaning

Why is nobody here?
Rather than wonder why
I must enjoy it
and watch the beautiful sky
enjoy what's left of nature
Nobody cares
Nobody can judge
as I enjoy my air
and I love it

Moments Like These

Written by Daishia O'Loughlin

It's moments like these
that are beautiful
rare and one of a kind
It's moment like these
that I adore
they are rare
and hard to find
Beautiful scenery
few people to be found
a lonely spot
where I may relax
Lovely peace
so sweet and sound
Here, I see a fountain
glowing between the trees
The MLK memorial
anyone can visit
as they please
Under this sweet architecture
I write
As my legs enjoy the breeze
of climate
that couldn't be more perfect
And I say all this
with ease
Because it's rare
that outside tranquility
blesses me
and showers me with peace
It's rare that
I have time alone
to rest along with the trees
I wish that
any time in my life
I could pick a second to freeze
so I may find myself
with nature
and be mesmerized as I please
So I may embrace every minute
in which I have this air to breathe
It's moments like these
that make me enjoy life
and appreciate the world
It's moments like these
that rejuvenate
the dying strands
of my world
